Webinar: Visualising the added value of urban greening: the Nature Value Explorer-City

Green-blue measures offer solutions to many challenges a local government faces such as climate adaptation and further improving environmental quality and human well-being.

The Nature Value Explorer is a free web tool (www.natuurwaardeverkenner.be) designed to provide a quick way for managers, urban planners, green staff, national and local governments to visualise the socio-economic importance of these green-blue measures from a design scenario.

This tool can be used in:

  • the drafting of green plans and climate adaptation plans of cities and municipalities,
  • socio-economic evaluation of nature development projects,
  • calculating the impact of development or design projects on the delivery of nature benefits,
  • supporting classes of environmental economics and ecosystem services.

Green managers can use these results to:

  • promote and protect public green spaces,
  • calculate different scenarios and get inspiration about which types of green space are most interesting where for certain challenges (e.g. extra cooling or water infiltration),
  • compare and contrast different design plans,
  • underpin the financing of public green space.

In this webinar, we will provide some background on the tool and demonstrate its use using an example so that you can start using it immediately afterwards.
